“Here in Vhembe we have got talent and we just need to make sure that we do not neglect nurturing this very talent if we want to create our own film industry.”

Those were the words of a reputable film director, Musiiwa Makumbi, when he was introducing his latest hard-hitting movie, Ndenwa Ya Munna.

Makumbi had unearthed raw talent among the youth in the district, groomed them into versatile actors who then portrayed interesting scenes in his movies.

Ndenwa Ya Munna deals with crime, women and child abuse, false arrest, and bribery – those are the problems which we face as a people and we felt that we needed to address them via the film medium,” he said.

In the lead is Martin Musetha, who plays the role of Justice, the “guy who is a problem everywhere. There's a serious crime committed in the movie and the wrong person is arrested; it's in this very fashion where we want to show the unfairness of the justice system and the evil that a person can do to another one.”

Through his company, MSW Group, Makumbi has previously released quality movies that include, among others, Jack the Kidnapper, Vhatukanani, and Western Style.

The cast includes, among others, Mamsy Nkhumeleni, Owen Hlungwani, Takalani Mulaudzi, Mavhungu Maiwashe, Awelani Rambau, Karabo Mantsi and Eshla Mukhari.

Martin Musetha expressed his delight about his role in the movie and added that the movie would appeal to South Africans of all age groups in that it addressed social challenges and problems all people were currently facing.

“Crime is a social issue that causes us a headache as a people,” he said. “We all fall in love, and in this movie, we find Justice and Mamsy entangled in love challenges that they deal with and try to solve in their unique way,” he said.
