Magidi exchanges mic for blue uniform

Former Makhado FM, Univen FM, and Vhembe FM journalist and eloquent newsreader Livhuwani Magidi has exchanged the microphone for a career in the SA Police Service. Speaking to Limpopo Mirror two weeks ago, Magidi said she was leaving the broadcasting industry because she wanted to serve the community in another role.

“With my experience in the media industry, I just want to bring the community closer to the police, making members of the community understand that working together, we can make South Africa a safer place to live for everyone,” she said.

She added that the community had lost faith in the police, “but the media is the only tool to use to communicate with the police in order to fight this killing giant called crime among us”.

“Although I miss reading news and presenting current-affairs programmes, being a police officer is a calling for me, and I feel I am going to contribute immensely by protecting the community,” she said.

When asked if ladies found working as police officers, where one is expected to face difficult situations when combating crime, challenging, she said she was enjoying every moment in her career as a police officer.

“To me, being a police officer is a calling, and I see no problem at all. Protecting my community is all I am prepared to do in my life,” she said.
