Musina Disability Forum hosts awards event to honour achievers

On Thursday, 30 November, the Musina Disability Forum held its first disability awards event at the old Nancefield Hall in Musina. The event, which formed part of Disability Month (from 3 November to 3 December), was held in collaboration with Kagisano, a non-governmental organisation, and ABSA bank. Close to 300 people attended.

“This was the first time we have organised such an event, which serves as a token of appreciation to the companies, individuals, organisations and government departments that champion the advancement of the lives of those living with disabilities,” said Mr Yunsa Mbewe, one of the senior managers at the forum.

The forum also awarded certificates to 16 disabled individuals who completed courses in sewing and computer training. Contestants from Musina who entered the Vhembe Disability beauty contest were honoured as well.

Kagisano provided food and transportation to disabled people from the Campbell, Harper and Matswale townships in Musina, while ABSA provided bottled water and small gifts for the guests.
