Teams start to prepare for Nedbank Cup fixtures

Teams campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship League are preparing for the Nedbank Cup Tournament’s preliminary-round matches. Five matches will be played next Tuesday (05 December), while the remaining three are scheduled for the following day.

Venda Football Club (VFC) will host their preliminary-round match in front of their home crowd at Thohoyandou Stadium on Wednesday. They will face University of Pretoria FC (Amatuks), meeting for the second time within 10 days after their league clash at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria last Sunday, where VFC were defeated 0-2.

The newly appointed head coach of VFC, Mr Duncan Lechesa, has indicated that he is still searching for a winning combination. Breaking through VFC’s defence, marshalled by Zebulon Mtsweni, Nhlanhla Makhubele, and Isaac Masia, will not be easy for Amatuks' strikers. If included in the starting 11, Wanga Khorommbi and Tatenda Tavengwa are expected to put pressure on Amatuks' defence.

On Wednesday, Black Leopards will play Maritzburg United at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban. Lidoda duvha had previously defeated United 1-0 in their league match at Thohoyandou Stadium last month.

Another Wednesday match features Milford FC against Upington City at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban. Platinum City Rovers will host Marumo Gallants at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark. Orbit College is preparing for a tough match against JDR Stars at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg. Baroka FC will entertain NB La Masia FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo. Other fixtures include Casric Stars vs. Hungry Lions and Magesi FC vs. Pretoria Callies.
