Safa Vhembe Regional League boasts another clean audit

The Safa Vhembe Regional League has reason to rejoice as the association received another clean audit for the soccer season that ended on 30 June this year. This information was revealed during the association’s congress, which took place at Munakisi Hall in Muledane last Saturday.

When presenting the financial report, Mr James Maluleke, the association’s treasurer, stated that the association had successfully navigated the last two soccer seasons without a sponsor. This occurred after their partnership with MMK Administrators came to an abrupt end in 2019.

At the weekend’s congress, the suspension of Thulamela Local Football Association (Thulfa) was ratified. Thulfa was placed under suspension after their elective conference held in July last year. The congress not only ratified the association’s suspension but also imposed a ten-year ban from football on all four executive committee members of Thulfa: Messrs David Khakhu, Eric Munyai, Mavis Mulibana, and Humbulani Makungo.

Additionally, it was confirmed during the meeting that the association had failed to promote a team to the ABC Motsepe League at the end of the last season. This came after the association’s representatives in the promotional playoffs, Mukula Young Santos, were unable to secure a spot. The top two teams in the tournament, Nkowankowa Continentals from Mopani and Sunrise FC (Waterberg), were promoted to the ABC Motsepe League.

Expressing concern, Mr Samuel Matodzi, the general secretary of the association, highlighted the increasing number of cases related to assaults on match officials. He reported that 13 out of the 75 cases handled by the association's disciplinary committee last season pertained to assaults on match officials.
