Quarter finals of Mafhungwana clash to be decided on Sunday

The quarter-final matches of the Mafhungwana Soccer Tournament will take place at the Mukula Young Santos Grounds on Sunday.

The opening match between Napoli FC and Berea FC is scheduled to kick off at 09:00. This match is anticipated to be a final before the actual final, given that both teams are closely contesting for the league title in their respective streams.

Berea faced a challenging journey to the quarter-final stage, overcoming Mukula Young Santos 4-2 in their last-16 round match at the same venue last Saturday. The winner was determined through a penalty shootout after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time. Napoli secured their place in the quarter-finals by beating Buluni Happy Boys 1-0.

In the second match at 11:30, Matangari High Aims and Khubvi Dangerous Darkies will test each other’s strength. A review of their tournament track records suggests that the winner may be decided through a penalty shootout. Dangerous Darkies defeated the formidable Tshilonwe Young Bombers 3-1 in their last-16-round match, while Matangari High Aims secured their spot in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Mukula Jamaican Stars.

Vondwe United Brothers will face off against Saudi FC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Saudi FC advanced to the quarter-finals by beating Nweli Stone Breakers 2-0, while Vondwe United Brothers narrowly defeated Matangari Settlers 2-1 in the last-16 round.

The day will conclude with the match between Tshimuthe FC and the winner of the morning’s encounter between Musasenda Big Five and Univen FC. They will meet at the Mukula Avalon Grounds in the morning to determine the team that will face Tshimuthe FC in the afternoon.
