Nembambula Construction launches its first soccer tournament

Nembambula Construction’s first annual soccer tournament was launched in Tshithuthuni village on Friday, 8 December.

The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, 17 December, with the final matches scheduled for Sunday, 24 December. All games will be played at the Remember My Promise soccer grounds in Tshithuthuni.

The eight teams that will participate in the inaugural tournament are Matanda Rockers, Muraida Youth Academy, Maname Young Tigers, Tshiendeulu New Castle, Tshithuthuni Remember My Promise, Rams Academy, Sangoma Black Robbers, and Fundudzi United Brothers.

The spokesperson for the tournament, Mr Tshifhiwa Matsedu, said the initial plans had been to accommodate 32 teams, but only eight teams had registered before or on the closing date. “We are encouraging more teams to register for this tournament next year. It not only offers great entertainment to the communities but also keeps young boys off the streets over the festive season,” he said.

The champions of the tournament will go home with a trophy, R5,000 cash, gold medals, and a soccer kit. The runners-up will receive R3,500 cash, silver medals, and a soccer kit, while the team ending third will receive R2,500, bronze medals and a soccer kit.
