R30,000 for Lumveleni's champions

 

The stage is set for teams taking part in the Lumveleni Restaurant Soccer Tournament. The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at the Lumveleni Restaurant in Ngudza on Tuesday afternoon. Sixteen teams from around Vhembe will take part in the tournament.

When delivering a keynote address, the sponsor, Mr Mulalo Nemandalali, said that the tournament would be an annual event and that the sponsorship amount would increase every year. The champions will be presented with R30,000, a floating trophy, soccer kit, gold medals and a soccer ball. The runners-up will take home R15,000, silver medals, soccer kit and a soccer ball. The total prize money to be spread among the teams is more than R60,000.

The toss for the opening matches was conducted during the ceremony. The opening matches will be played at the Ngudza Young Vultures Grounds this weekend. The fixtures for the opening round matches are: Vondwe XI Bullets vs SDA FC, Ngudza Young Vultures vs Tshishivhe Tigers, Madridtas FC vs Ngudza United Brothers, Mukula Young Santos vs Tshimuthe FC, Dzingahe FC vs Tshilapfene Arsenal, Vhufuli Dangerous Scorpions vs Saudi Arabia FC, Ngwenani Manchester United vs Marula XI and Ngwenani Young Chiefs vs ABC FC. The semi-final and final matches will be played on Sunday, 31 December.
