Smoking Joe declares war on his boxers' opponents

Experienced local boxing trainer Mr John “Smoking Joe” Nemakonde has promised to produce more national boxing champions next year. The hardworking trainer has produced the first Female Lightweight Champion in Raider “The Earthquake” Muleba, who won the national boxing championship in November last year.

Nemakonde said the best thing to have happened to his A-Z boxing club this year was that three very promising boxers, Mulweli “Mr Knockout” Rasalanavho, Adivhaho Nemutanzhela, and Litshani Tshikhudo, had joined his stable. “These three boxers are very talented, and believe you me, one if not all of them will win national titles next year,” he said confidently.

He added that, after Muleba’s fight in the National Junior Lightweight Championship, scheduled for 1 December 2023, was cancelled, she has vowed to win another national title for the people of Limpopo in general and the Vhembe District in particular. “I am very optimistic that she is going to win the Junior Lightweight Championship next year,” he said.

Muleba will fight Asazakhe Jamani in an elimination fight for the championship belt. The fight will take place in Bloemfontein.

“It is going to be war out there. All I can promise local boxing fanatics is that we are going to win more titles next year,” he said.
