Munyai the surprise champ of Musangwe tournament

Khuthadzo Munyai emerged as the champion of the Musangwe Fist-Fighting Tournament held at the Ngudza open ground last Saturday afternoon, securing both the R5,000 cash prize and the prestigious bragging rights. The tournament was organised by the Vhembe Traditional Entertainment Organisation.

Munyai showcased his determination by defeating the crowd favourite and former champion Thuso “Ngwazi” Munyai in the semifinals of the competition. In the final, he faced off against the agile and fast-punching pugilist Tshigevhenga Mudau in what turned out to be a one-sided affair. Despite Mudau’s proficiency in dodging punches, he was overwhelmed by the superior experience of the new champion, Khuthadzo Munyai.

As a result, Tshigevhenga Mudau received R3,000 for his runner-up position, while third-placed Thuso Ngwazi Munyai was awarded R2,500. Lufuno Radzivhoni, who secured fourth place, received R2,000.

In the junior section of the tournament, Mufandilani Ratshibvumo claimed victory and was awarded R2,000, while Talifhani Sikhwari, the runner-up, received R1,800. Third place went to Roikha Mutoti, who received R1,600, and fourth place to Khakhathi Mbedzi, who received R1,400.
